Becoming A Surrogate
Do you feel you have a calling to help a family in need? Families that have struggled to
conceive a child have been on a long emotional roller coaster. Often times they are spending
their life savings on their road to parenthood. This is not a simple service you will be providing
but rather a life changing miracle. The surrogate procedure will forever change your life but will
change it in a very meaningful way. You are providing a true miracle to a family in need that
they can not do without you.
If you are considering a surrogate procedure, remember that you are the gestational
surrogate. What this means is that you are carrying the baby but not biologically related. During
the IVF procedure the biological mother will undergo an egg extraction procedure in order to
combine her egg with the biological father’s sperm. If neither parent is able to provide a
healthy sample, then a donor may be used. However, before any of this can take place the
future surrogate must submit an application and undergo a thorough screening process. This is
for everyone’s protection.
After submitting an application, the surrogate will then complete a medical
examination. In order to match with a family there will be an interview process and the family
will be able to review medical records, background check, as well as a social work evaluation.
Many families decide to match based on race, religion, age, sexual orientation, personality, or
even the amount of contact that the surrogate is comfortable with throughout the process.
Once the match takes places all sides are represented by an attorney. At this point we can wrap
up all the paperwork side of things and continue with the IVF cycle. If you have any questions
regarding the surrogate procedure, we would be happy to help and discuss any questions that
you may have.
